Calling All Readers

I know I haven't written in a year...but that's probably because I forget/I don't think my life is that interesting/I don't think anyone reads this stuff. If you want me to start blogging again, comment.

7 Weeks of Freedom

OH what a fabulous summer! I suppose the fact that we got out of Rexburg made it that much more exciting. 7 weeks of no school...which means...were headed EAST COAST BABY! We had such a great summer spending time with my family in North Carolina and Derek's family in Kentucky/Indiana. We did sooo many things this summer, but instead of telling you every detail here is our

TOP 10 SUMMER COUNTDOWN
(in no particular order of importance)

1. RASCAL FLATTS CONCERT! I've already shared my excitement to yall...but it was AMAZING!

2. Getting actual sun and touching the ocean for the first time in months!(Virginia Beach)

3. Spending time with my FAVORITE niece Alexis! She is so much fun, not to mention the most adorable thing i've ever seen! She had a lot of fun wearing me out on the tra
mpoline playing ring-around-the-roses 1,000 times. The best part is she calls me "kuhy kuhy" LOVE IT

4. Myrtle Beach with the fam! We all had a great time spending some time in the sun and gettin some much needed r&r.

5. La Grange, Indiana. For my first time I got to witness Amish people. It's weird to be driving down the road next to their horse and buggy and then seeing their buggy's parked next to you in the parking lot. It felt like I was in the 1800's. Super weird, but cool.

6. I got to ride on a boat for the first time! Derek's grandma lives on a lake in northern Indiana and I finally got the chance to see what all the hype was about. The lake was gorgeous and tons of fun! We both were able to do some water skiing and tubing. Both of which I had never done before. Imagine, a beach girl trying to water ski. Ya you guessed, I failed. Miserably. To say the least, I wont be trying that for awhile. However, tubing was tons of fun!

7. Eating at a 5-Star restaurant for the first time! Derek's brother Justin works at an upscale winery in Lexington, KY and Deb (derek's mom) thought it'd all be fun to go see what its all about. Now let me tell you...the food was FABULOUS! I ordered some mahi-mahi thing with oyster mushrooms, derek ordered a raspberry salmon dish and
deb got the most amazing mac & cheese known to man. I loved how the food was in extra small portions for alotta $$$.
8. FISHING! I got the chance to watch my amazing husband catch fish! Seeing as fishing is Derek's favorite hobby, i thought i'd go see how good he really was. Surprisingly enough, he was really good at it! He caught a bass, a blue gill, and a catfish! However, I couldn't stand the gutting of the fish. GROSS!

9. Refinishing a deck! woo. I wouldn't say this is my most favorite thing we did all summer...but it truly was an accomplishment. I have no pictures, but i'll tell you how hard it really was. Derek's parents had a really rough deck. Felt like it hadn't been sanded in a while and weather damaged. We decided to take this project on not knowing how difficult it ended up being. We decided to sand off the wood to where you saw zero stain--which took FOREVER. We had 3 electric sanders going trying to make it go as fast as possible. Anyways, after we stained it, it looked beautiful. I mostly owe the credit to Derek. He would wake up at 7am everyday just to get a head start. Overall, it looks fab!

10. OUR ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY! September 2nd marked our 1 year! We couldn't believe how fast this year flew by. We've learned so much about each othe
r and had the best of times. Full of memories and laughs that I wouldn't take back for the world. Celebrating our marriage started off with eating some old wedding cake :) oh boy did i get some cake alright. Derek decided it was a good idea to get back at me for shoving cake in his face last year. We ended up with getting cake everywhere to say the least. Derek's parents helped us celebrate by booking us a one-night stay at a bed and breakfast. It was the most gorgeous room i've ever slept in and a delicious breakfast!

Were back in Rexburg. Reality has finally kicked in. School is already going a million miles an hour on top of working 20 hours a week. Wow...i think im already for chirstmas break...

Summer Nights

This past weekend was amazing! Derek and I went up to Virginia Beach to visit Derek's Uncle Bill. What a great guy! We spent our first night going to a concert--our favorite...Rascal Flatts! The concert was at the Virginia Beach Amphitheater, which made it 20x better. The weather was perfect to be outdoors!

Before Rascal Flatts played, we got to hear from Chris Young and Kelly Pickler. We had a great time dancing, singing and rockin out to all the songs!

The next day we went with Bill and his family to the beach. I was sooooo happy to be on the beach once again and bask in the sun :)

Weird things are happening...

Yes...this town seems pretty normal...but for some odd reason...these past few days have been really strange here in rexburg. For one...

We went out with our friends to get some dinner...and their car wouldn't turn on. We asked some people around the restaurant if they would jump us. But instead...this guy just HANDS us his keys and TRUSTED us to jump it and then return it to him. (which we did..) But still...
who does that!?

Second... evidently sonic has hot dogs that are a 1/4 lb! Nothing else can be said...that's just plain gross and weird. And guess who ate it all...the one and only love of my life!

We got bored and decided to get a little kid "pottery wheel" for $10 at walmart. Little did we know...you have to know how to use it! It was
SUPER hard. The clay was ghetto and wouldn't mold into anything! As you can see...it just turned out wonderful! The kind of vase you would want to hold your flowers in...right? OF COURSE not

The best of all....today the sky looked like it was on fire! We walked around outside for awhile and were so astonished as how red and dark it looked. I just hoping God is planning on setting the school on fire so I don't have to take my finals!

July 4th Weekend

Even though we didn't go out of town...we still had a fabulous time! On Friday we grilled out and had some salmon, tilapia and veggies on kabobs. YUM!

Saturday we woke up at the butt crack of dawn to go tubing. But little did we know that it was too cold for tubing. The weather was actually perfect everyday weather, just not perfect swimming weather. We ended up taking apart our grill and went to Ribgy lake to try to get some sun and eat some delicious bbq. We had a fabulous time!
Later that night we
all went downtown Idaho Falls and watched the firework show. We were so lucky to get a half-decent seat.

Thankfully we had Monday off! We decided to go to the IF Zoo! So first off we thought the zoo here would be pretty lame. I mean what can you expect? We were actually pleasantly surprised at how many animals they actually had! What a great time we had at the zoo! When we got home we found a recipe for pizza dough, thinking that it wouldn't take very long. and it ended up taking HOURS! But totally worth it. The pizza's turned out great. But such a long day.

Back to start school again. yay.....

THE STACHE!

GROSSSSSSSSSSS! Derek has a mustache. I want it gone! It is super weird. Not to mention I feel like I have a creeper in my bed. But don't worry, it will be gone soon...I will make it happen. Adios nasty mustache!!

Derek's First Post

So I have never liked blogs...and I vowed I would never start. But here I am. Don't get used to this because I probably will never write another post but I guess I will just give you guys an update. I am currently in the middle of my internship with Northwestern Mutual as a financial representative. I am liking the job and I am learning a lot. Kayla is getting tired of me trying to sell her life insurance...she has been my hardest client. Kayla and I can't wait to get out of Rexburg and have a little vacation. I am not really sure what else to say in a blog. I am pretty much writing this to prove Kayla wrong, so I guess I win...
